Price Matching is when a store matches a competitor’s price. The most common store that price matches is Walmart. Recently, Target has started to price match as well. Doing this allows you to get your shopping done at one store, while still getting the best prices. However, There are a few things to remember about price matching:
- They will match item for item. So if S&W Beans are on sale, you need to match it with S&W Beans.
- They will not match buy one, get one free OR percentages off like “buy one get one 50% off.”
- They will not match a specific store promotion such as “buy 10 get $5 off at the register.”
- They will not honor advertised double or triple coupons even if it is stated in the ad.
For more information on specific price matching policies, please check Walmart and Target’s websites.
Coupon Sense makes it easy to price match. While you are creating your shopping list, you can sort your list by category. You can compare the prices of the same item by store. For example, select eggs and you will see which store has the best deal. Once you have created your shopping list, you can then click on the price matching icon. It will bring up a list that looks like this: (click on the picture to see full view)
It will show the store where the lowest price is found and where in the item is located in the store’s ad. For example, Albertson’s had cantalope on sale for $1 each. It was at the top on page one. Bring this sheet along with you when you do your shopping. It will make finding the sale items much easier. Some shopper’s report that their local Walmart will insist they bring in the competitor’s ad. This list from Coupon Sense will make easy to find the exact sale item.
Keep in mind that if you live in an area where stores double coupons, it may not be a benefit to do all of your shopping at Walmart. In any event, having the store’s policies with you is a good idea. And now you know how easy Coupon Sense makes price matching!
